Vogue Formal Dress
This dress can be made in a casual fabric or a formal fabric. That is the one thing that I do like about this pattern. I had to attend a wedding out of town and I knew I would make whatever I was going to wear. It was a toss up between 2 Vogue Patterns and I choose this one.
I knew the fabric would be black and the pop of color would come from the shoes and the accessories. July was a busy month and there was more to do then what I had time for, but I was determined to make the dress. The back of the dress is really star of this make and overall it was really easy to make. I wanted to make the bow on the back of the dress pop and decided to use different fabric.
The Monday before my Thursday flight I found these beautiful Betsey Johnson shoes and had them overnighted and all the other accessories are from Amazon.
I am not a big fan of circle skirts. I feel that there is usually a lot of fabric and for my shape, I don't think it really flatters my frame. Now I must admit I am not that person that reads the instructions in full before I begin to sew, if I had I would have read that the skirt was a basic circle skirt and I would have chosen the other pattern. However, I didn't and here are...if I had some time I would have made another dress.
I wore the dress proudly. I am not sure I would wear it again. It was very comfortable.
This is a lovely pattern but I don't think it's for me. I did not have to make one adjustment to the pattern. I find that to be the case when I make a Vogue Pattern. I believe the sale price on the Vogue patterns are justifiable, I never have a ton of adjustments when I make a Vogue patten.
I have a coupe of Links events coming up in the fall and I will once a gain embark on evening wear.Wish me luck and keep an eye out to see what pattern I choose.
